Aromatherapy works wonders for brides-to-be
Hormonal imbalances, hypertension or depression as the case may be, dietary disorders related to haphazard diet patterns, skin inflammations especially in extra oily skin textures (acne, pimples) or skin ruptures as seen with extra sensitive skin due to dehydration or over dryness are common disorders seen in new brides. Dr. Naresh Arora of Chase Aromatherapy and Skin Care, Delhi, elaborates on how aromatherapy can help overcome such disorders.
In case of overstress or hypertension: One drop of lavender oil or basil oil can soothe the nerves. It may be used during bathing or in diffuser, steam chamber, etc.
Once-a-week to-dos
Body massage with sandalwood oil-based aroma body massage oil is beneficial to relax the nerve nodes and to tone up the tissues. A good Eau De Cologne with one drop of sandalwood oil and one drop of lemon grass oil helps lift your mood through the day.
If you are feeling bluesy, uplift your senses with lemon grass oil candle or diffuser. To have peaceful sleep at night, keep a cotton swab by bedside containing one drop of jasmine oil or neroli oil.
The beauty regimen for the brides should include:
Pre-bridal massages: Start at least 15-20 days before the wedding date to completely detoxify the body. Dead Sea salt or Epsom salt bath or steam can help clear the skin pores throwing out the deep-rooted skin impurities thereby vitalizing the tissues. Tea Tree oil or lavender oil steam helps overcome facial acne/pimples. Cleanse your face with rosewater or lavender water. Aloe vera face wash and skin toner help maintain even the most sensitive skin. Protect the skin from harsh ultraviolet rays with jasmine-based aloe vera moisturising lotion.
However, never use the facial gels directly on your face. You could do better by mixing the facial gel with either moisturising lotion or a good quality aromatherapy cream for facial massage. For maximum facial glow, use protein-based face packs with half a drop of Patchauli or jasmine oil. Tone up your skin with rosewater or aloe vera juice.
Dietary regimen for new brides
- Drink minimum 10 glasses of water daily for maximum detoxification.
- Intake of green vegetables and leafy salad should be increased to minimise the changes in the levels of haemoglobin in the blood.
- Diet with extra micronutrients like vitamins, minerals and fibers help overcome skin ruptures, blemishes, over-pigmentation, and scalp dandruff among others.
- Fruit juice or liquid intake at regular intervals is highly recommended too.
